Corona Virus Precautions at Baytowne Hyundai

The safety and well being of our customers and staff has always been a top priority for us. The rapidly evolving coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has imposed an unsettling, fluid situation upon our community and its businesses. In response to growing concerns around the spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we have taken steps to help protect our team & our customers.

While the Baytowne Hyundai team still aims to maintain a “business as usual” approach, we are making a number of significant changes to our operations to account for a situation that is far from normal.

Effective immediately, Baytowne Hyundai will be updating our hours of operation as follows:

  • Our Service and Parts Department will be open from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM from Monday to Friday and 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday
  • Our Sales Department will be open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM from Monday to Thursday
  • Our Sales Department hours on Friday will remain at 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM
  • Our Sales Department Saturday hours will remain unchanged (9:00 AM to 6:00 PM).
  • And, as always, we will be closed on Sundays for all departments

As indicated, the Sales Showroom remains open. However, if you are uncomfortable visiting our facility, we are happy to coordinate video walkarounds on any vehicles in which you might be interested.

Hygiene standards for our employees and guests is our top priority. We are closely following the latest guidelines from the CDC, WHO, local governments and public health agencies. We have taken the following ENHANCED steps:

ACCESS – PERSONAL: If you have been outside of our country in the past 14 days please do not come to the dealership. If you have any of the symptoms of the Covid-19 virus as indicated on the government self-assessment website (fever, runny nose, cough, sneezing, sore throat etc) please do not enter the dealership. Our staff are authorized to protect themselves by refusing service to anyone displaying symptoms.

ACCESS – VEHICLE: If your vehicle has been outside of the country within the last 14 days please do not bring it to the dealership. It would be appreciated if you could drop off your vehicle the night before your service appointment.

SHUTTLE SERVICE: We have suspended our shuttle service until further notice. Rental vehicles are available.

DETAIL / CLEAN UP: We have suspended the detail and cleaning of customer vehicles until further notice.

GREETINGS: While it is typically our policy to greet every customer with a warm handshake & a smile, we’ve advised our team to suspend any physical contact with customers. We encourage following the recommended one meter (+) social distancing and to wash hands thoroughly with soap and water as often as possible in order to minimize the risk to your well-being. We are also implementing a no-touch handshake policy. For the well-being of our customers and employees, please do not take offence if you are not greeted with a handshake.

SANITIZATION: In addition to our normal daily dealership cleaning processes, our team has been instructed to routinely sanitize high touch surface areas throughout the day which includes common areas and other high traffic areas of the dealership. We are regularly disinfecting all high-touch areas, including workstations and product displays. We are applying disinfectant to all counter-top surfaces, door handles, etc. in addition to normal cleaning service.

We have increased accessibility of hand sanitizers for guests and employees throughout the dealership.

All service staff have been instructed to wear gloves and wash their hands regularly.

PAYMENTS: We will attempt to reduce the use of cash and instead encourage payment by credit and debit card preferably with “Tap”. Card machines will be wiped after use.

CUSTOMER VEHICLES: We will wipe down steering wheels, dash and shift controls before we work on your vehicle. We will use gloves along with seat covers & floor mats to minimize contact with your vehicle. These will be removed before the vehicle is returned. Every vehicle will be wiped down with disinfectant products after each customer or employee interaction.

TEST DRIVES: While we are still offering vehicle test drives, we have implemented a policy whereby all those who wish to test drive a vehicle must wear latex gloves (available at our reception area) in order to ensure the public’s safety. Touch points will be sanitized before the test drive.

EMPLOYEE HEALTH: Our team members will not be allowed to return to work if they’ve had exposure to a COVID-19 patient until they have self-quarantined and/or been certified that they can return to work by a medical professional. If they have traveled out of the country or been on a cruise, they will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days before returning to work. If any of our employees display symptoms of a COVID-19 infection we will be sending them to a health professional for a screening and then for a 14 day quarantine period if required. We are suspending large group meetings & encouraging our team to stay within their direct work areas in addition to exercising social distancing.

In addition to everything above, we continue to take every action consistent with guidance from Health Canada, as well as provincial and local authorities.

Of course, as this situation remains fluid, it must be said that all these policies/changes are subject to change at any moment and without warning. We remain committed to keeping you informed while continuing to support our employees and the Barrie/Simcoe County community.
